The Economist: Israel's growth in 2006 to slow down to 4.3%

The Economist, the British weekly magazine predicted last week that in 2006 Israel's economic growth will slow down a little and reach 4.3%, (in 2005 growth was 5.1%).

The economic prediction is based, according to the Economist, on a quarterly survey of economists at several international banks around the world.

If the Economist prediction is accurate, Israel, according to the bank analysts, has joined the new trend of slower growth among developing economies, led by China and India.

India's economy is expected to grow by 7.2 % this year, compared with 7.7 % in 2005 while China is expected to present a lower rate of growth of 8.7 % this year compared to 9.7% growth in 2005.

In contrast Brazil's economy is expected to grow 3.6% this year compared with 2.7% in 2005, while Russia will perform 6.2% growth in 2006 compared to 6.3% last year.
