Amir Peretz, the chairman of the General Federation of Labor in Israel (Histadrut), annouced on Wednesday afternoon the end of the general strike, 30 hours after it began.
 
The Histadrut annouced a general strike in the morning of the 21st at 8:30, in protest against the ongoing failure to pay wages to the local authorities’ employees.

The strike covered all public sector including goverment offices, banks, stock exchange, ports and airports.

The Histadrut decided to begin a strike which covered the entire economy, indefinitely, after over six months by which the local authorities crisis began, and the salaries of 20,000 workers were delayed.

The strike was over after it was agreed on both sides that local authorities' emploees will get paid in the coming days.
