Since the establishment of the state until today, Israeli exports (goods and services) grew 16,000 times, from about US$6 million in 1948 to US$97 billion in 2014. 

 

Research conducted by the Israel Export and International Cooperation Institute (IEICI), revealed that Israel is ranked sixth in the world among the developed countries export growth rate. 

 

Exports of goods alone increased by 10,000, from about $ 6 million in 1948 to about - 62 billion in 2014. 

 

Exports per capita which was US$7 in 1948 jumped to approximately US$11,780 in 2014, up 1,660 times. In real terms, according to IEICI, Israel's exports per capita grew 169 times, just before Italy and Spain, but after Taiwan, South Korea, France, Spain, United Kingdom, Czech Republic, Hungary, Estonia and Slovakia. 

 

According to a special analysis conducted by economists at the IEICI, to provide international comparison, in terms of Exports of goods from 1948 to 2014, Israel is ranked sixth in the world after the United Arab Emirates (190, 000 fold increase), South Korea (30, 000 fold increase), Oman (28,000 fold increase), Qatar (24,000 fold increase) and Taiwan (18,000 fold increase).  

 

China ranked in seventh place after Israel, after having doubled exports 4,500 times since 1948, and Japan is ranked eighth with 2,700-fold increase. 

 

Among the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), Israel ranks second (after South Korea) in export growth rates, and compared to European countries, Israel ranked first. Starting from 1948, when Israel was ranked 120 in exports, alongside countries like Gambia, Niger, Belize and Malta, it jumped to 42nd place in 2014. 

 

However, in global export ranking, Israel is trailing after countries such as the Czech Republic, Vietnam, Hungary , Slovakia and Finland. The Export Institute noted that total world merchandise exports in 1948 amounted to approximately US$58 billion.  

 

Meanwhile, Israeli exports in that year was 0.01% of total world exports.  Today, Israeli exports amount to 0.33% of total world exports of goods, which amounted to approximately US$18.7 trillion, and about 0.40% of the total exports of goods and services worldwide amounting to about US$24 trillion.
