The Israeli Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) reported that in August 2015, import of goods (gross, excluding diamonds) totaled NIS 19.0 billion. 39% were imports from EU countries, 25% - from Asian countries, 12% - from USA and 24% - from Other Countries.

 

In August 2015, export of goods (gross, excluding diamonds) totaled NIS 12.8 billion and the trade deficit in goods (excluding diamonds) totaled NIS 6.2 billion. 27% were exports to EU countries, 29% - to Asian countries, 26% - to USA, and 18% - to Other Countries.

 

Trade Balance January- August 2015

The trade deficit in goods (excl. diamonds) with EU countries totaled NIS 16.3 billion (a rise of 18.2% compared to January- August 2014).

 

The trade deficit in goods (excl. diamonds) with Asian countries totaled NIS 6.3 billion (a drop of -38.2% compared to January- August 2014).

 

The trade surplus in goods (excl. diamonds) with USA totaled NIS 8.3 billion compared with NIS 5.0 billion in the same period of the previous year (a rise of 65.5% compared to January- August 2014).

 

Import of Goods June-August 2015

Trend data by main country groups indicates that imports from EU countries increased by 12.2%, at an annual rate, in June-August 2015, continuing an increase of 6.0% in March-May 2015. In January-August 2015 imports (excluding diamonds) from Ireland, Slovenia and Bulgaria increased significantly.

 

Imports of goods from USA increased by 7.5%, at an annual rate, in June-August 2015, continuing an increase of 11.8% in March-May 2015.

 

Imports from Asian Countries increased by 1.5% in the last three months, at an annual rate, continuing an increase of 0.5% in March-May 2015 at an annual rate. In January-August 2015 imports (excluding diamonds) from Hong Kong, Vietnam and Jordan increased significantly.

 

Imports from Other Countries decreased by 19.9% in the last three months, at an annual rate, continuing a decrease of 22.2% in March-May 2015 (-2.1% monthly average). In January-August 2015 imports (excluding diamonds) from Colombia, and Ethiopia decreased significantly.

 

Export of Goods June-August 2015

Exports to EU countries decreased by 2.0%, at an annual rate in June-August 2015, after an increase of 4.6% in March-May 2015. In January-August 2015 exports (excluding diamonds) to Cyprus, Czech Republic and Spain decreased significantly.

 

Exports to USA decreased by 24.8%, at an annual rate in June-August 2015 (-2.3% monthly average), continuing a decrease of 23.1% in March-May 2015 (-2.2% monthly average). Exports to Asian Countries increased by 19.4%, at an annual rate in the last three months, continuing an increase of 27.3% in March-May 2015 (2.0% monthly average). In January-August 2015 exports (excluding diamonds) to Vietnam, Azerbaijan and Philippines increased significantly.

 

Exports to Other Countries decreased by 30.3%, at an annual rate in June-August 2015 (-3.0% monthly average), continuing a decrease of 41.4% in March-May 2015 (-4.4% monthly average). In January-August 2015 exports (excluding diamonds) to Ukraine, Egypt and Costa Rica decreased significantly.
