The Department of Agriculture’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service will issue permits of fresh male summer squash flowers from Israel

The Department of Agriculture’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service announced last week that a decision was made to begin issuing permits for the importation into the continental United States of fresh male summer squash flowers from Israel.

Squash flowers are large, yellow flowers with fused corolla (petals). Squash have separate male and female flowers. The stigma can be seen on the female flower.

Each commercial consignment of these squash flowers must be accompanied by a phytosanitary certificate, stating that the consignment has been inspected and found free of Helicoverpa armigera and Scirtothrips dorsalis and that each consignment is subject to inspection at the port of entry.
