Israel's Central Bureau of Statistics reported last week that the unemployment rate fell to 6.7% in April 2012, from 7.1% in March.
 
The number of employed persons in April 2012 reached 3.333 million, compared with 3.313 million in March 2012, an increase of 0.6%.
 
In April 2012, the number of persons in the labor force was 3.573 million. Of these, 3.333 million were employed and approximately 240,000 were unemployed.
 
Among the employed persons, 1.792 million were males (1.772 million in March) and 1.541 million were females (same as March).
 
The participation rate among persons aged 15 and over in the labor force in April was 63.2% (same as March). Among males, that rate rose to 69.3% (compared with 68.9% in March), and among females, it declined to 57.4% (compared with 57.7% in March).
 
The unemployment rate among persons aged 15 and over from the labor force declined to 6.7% in April (compared with 7.1% in March). The unemployment rate of males declined to 6.3% (compared with 6.7% in March), and that of females declined to 7.2% (compared with 7.5% in March).
 
Among persons aged 25-64, the participation rate in the labor force rose to 78.6% in April (compared with 78.1% in March). Among males, the rate rose to 84.7% (compared with 83.6% in March), and among females, the rate reached to 72.6% (compared with 72.7% in March).
 
Among persons aged 25-64, the unemployment rate from the labor force reached 5.9% in April (compared with 6.1% in March). Among males, the unemployment rate reached 5.5% (compared with 5.6% in March) and among females, it declined to 6.3% (compared with 6.6% in March).
