Mr.Uriel Lynn, president of the Federation of Israeli Chambers of Commerce (FICC), was elected last week to the board of the Eurochambers. Lynn and the Turkish representative were elected to represent the group of 17 countries which are not members of the EU.
In a statement to the press, Mr. Lynn said that his election can be regarded as a strong statement of trust that European economies have towards the Israeli economy. He called upon the Eurochambers to adopt a resolution that the EU will be widened to include all members of the Eurochambers in the next 5 years.
The Eurochambers, headed by Mr. Christoff Lyttle president of the Austrian chamber of commerece, represents all European industrial and commercial organizations. 41 national chambers of commerce are active members as well as 2,000 regional chambers of commerce.
