Data published last week by the Israel Motor Vehicles Importers Association, based on actual licensing figures noted that 104,000 vehicles were imported in the first half of 2010, 33% more than in the first half of 2009.
 
Mazda was the leading brand in the first half, with 16,007 vehicle deliveries, up 26.5% over the first half of last year.
 
Hyundai was in second place, with 15,022 deliveries, up 57.6%.
Toyota was in third place, with 10,243 deliveries, up 19%.
Suzuki rose to fourth place, with 5,995 deliveries, up 47%.
Volkswagen was in fifth place, with 5,058 deliveries, up 47%.
Chevrolet was in sixth place, with 5,051 deliveries, up 4.5%.
The planning and economics department at Israel Tax Authority published their own data concerning import of motor vehicles noting that in the first half of 2010, 106,470 private motor vehicles (including taxis)were imported, an increase of 40%.
In June 2010 21,243 private motor vehicles (including taxis) were imported compared to 18,057 in the parallel last year an increase of 18%.
