The border between Syria and the Israel's Golan Heights was opened for the third year in a row last week to allowsome 7,000 tons of apples to cross into Syria.

For the third year running the convoy of fruit-filled trucks made its way through the Kunetra border crossing and from there to the markets of Damascus.
At 9 a.m last Monday the border crossing was opened on the Syrian side and three Red Cross lorries made the 350 meter journey to the Israeli side of the border. After a complete security check the produce was loaded onto the Red Cross trucks at 11 am and lorries departed to the Syrian side. The transfer operation is expected to last up to ten days.
