Ben Harush: Truckers should prepare for strike

In early April Ben Harush announced he would not continue his negotiations with the Histadrut following an action which declared labor dispute at TIM a road haulage company
 
The head of Israel Road Transport Board, Gaby Ben Harush, called last week on member haulage companies to prepare for a possible strike action by the Histadrut (General Federation of Labor in Israel).
 
In a statement issued by Ben Harush he noted that such a strike would severely disrupt the import and export of cargo going though Israel's seaports.
 
Several weeks ago it was reported that the General Federation of Labor in Israel was threatening a strike action in the haulage sector, after Ben Harush announced that he would not sign a collective labor agreement with the union.
 
In early April Ben Harush announced he would not continue his negotiations with the Histadrut following an action taken by the Histadrut which declared labor dispute at TIM a road haulage company.
 
In a letter he sent to Ofer Eini the chairman of the Histadrut he noted that the actions taken by the Histadrut was against the spirit of the mutual understanding reached during the negotiations.
 
Although there is an agreement in principle, Ben Harush made his signing of the labor agreement subject to the Histadrut lifting the labor dispute it had declared at Zim Integrated Shipping Services Ltd. subsidiary TIM which employs some 40 drivers.
 
The Histadrut declared the labor dispute after TIM's management withdrew its intention to sign a labor contract at the company.
