Members of the delegation were made familiarized with Israel's railway  security systems and met 10 Israeli firms involved in Homeland Security
 
High ranking delegation of Russian Railways (RZD) headed by the company's deputy chief for security, visited Israel recently to study Israeli security methods applied for the protection of Israel's railway system.
 
The visit was triggered following recent terrorist attacks on Moscow railway station. The most recent attack took place last March at Lubyanka underground station just below the headquarters of Russia’s FSB security service, when two female suicide bombersblew themselves up on packed metro trains in Moscow’s morning rush hour killing at least 38 people. Authorities pointed the finger at Islamist militants from the Northern Caucasus for the deadliest attack in Moscow for half a decade.
 
Following the terrorist attacks the Russian government approved special security budget for the protection of Russian's railway system.
 
During the visit the delegation were made familiarized with Israel's railway state-of-the-art security systems and met 10 Israeli firms involved in Homeland Security.
 
The Russian Railways operational length is 85.200 km. According to the Company’s data its share in the country’s cargo turnover reaches 43%. Russian Railways and its subsidiaries fleet totals 624,900 freight cars of all types.
