Max Trucks and Buses Ltd. Israel's importer of heavy vehicles made by Scania AB announced last week the purchase of several dozen Scania intercity buses assembled by Jordanian manufacturer Elba House Company.
The Jordanian company has specialized in manufacture and assembly of bus bodies using Mercedes Benz and Scania chassis, preparation and equipping of ambulances, manufacture of trailers, semi-trailers, dump trucks, tankers and low-beds, and supply and erection of prefab houses, mobile caravans and cabins on skids.
Max Trucks and Buses Ltd. has already taken delivery of the first shipment of 18 intercity buses from Elba, out of a total order for several dozen buses.
It is understood that Elba House Company assembled the buses to meet Israeli bus and road standards.
The buses will be operated in Israel by Nateev Express Ltd which has a franchise to operate intercity routes in Netanya and Hadera region and also in Upper Galilee, between Zefat and Nahariya.
Max Trucks and Buses Ltd. said that the buses cost €110,000 each, which is 40-50% less than the price of corresponding buses assembled in Europe.
