Israel Railways set a new record of 4.9 million passenger journeys in November, up 10%, compared with November 2014 (4.4 million passenger journeys).

Israel Railways noted that outstanding passenger journeys were recorded in Hod Hasharon -Tel Aviv line with 17% increase, compared with November 2014 and Ashkelon-Tel Aviv line with 20% increase, compared with November 2014.

The increase is attributed to the increased in demand as well as the introduction of new rail cars. Israel Railways management expects the number of passengers to continue climbing in 2016, among other things, as a result of the operation of the Negev line, the inauguration of the Ofakim railway station, the running of the Northern Valley line, and the reform in railway ticket prices.
