A delegation of Israeli freight forwarders organized by the Israeli Federation of International Freight Forwarders and Customs Clearing Agents ( IFFCCA) and headed by Mr. Shlomo Sharon IFFCCA's chairman, returned last week from a visit to Romania
 
The four days visit which was coordinated by the Mr. Arnon Arbel, Israel's trade officer at the Israeli embassy in Bucharest included a visit to the Black Sea port of Constansa and meetings with local freight forwarders.
 
In Constansa the delegation met Mr. Mircea Marius Banias, director general of the port and had a long fact finding session with Mrs. Florentina Ioanei regional director of Customs.
 
In Bucharest the delegation met Mr. Alexandros Galiatatos, deputy to the secretary of transport who outlined Romanian long terms transport investments as well as plans to connect Romania to the main European transport routes. Later the delegation participated in a seminar headed by the Israeli Ambassador Mrs. Rodrica Radian-Gordon and Mr. Stephan Popa, president of the Bucharest Federation of Chambers of Commerce.
 
Talking to the audience at the seminar, Sharon emphasized the importance of Romania in general and the port of Constanza in particular, once Romania joins the EU. Sharon noted that Israeli business community will no doubt use Romanian transport infrastructure for their goods moving to destinations in Eastern European and the Balkans.
