ABX LOGISTICS recently became one of the very few foreign companies in China to hold a Class A freight forwarder’s license.

The license, issued by the Ministry of Commerce, was obtained under the Closer Economic Partnership Arrangement (CEPA), which came into force in early 2004 and grants Hong Kong-based manufacturers, traders and service providers (including those in the transport sector) special priorities in gaining access to the Chinese market.

In continuation to the agreement signed last week between ABX and Peltransport from Israel, Peltransport’s customers will benefit from ABX’s vast veriaty of logistics services in China, including import & export Services, warehousing, distribution etc. all under the supervision of the local ABX operator in China.

As a Class A operator, ABX LOGISTICS China is now in a position to offer a full range of international forwarding (overland, air and sea transport) and logistics services (NVOCC operations, warehousing, packaging, consolidation, distribution, transshipment, etc.) under its own name and has the right to own its subsidiary in Shanghai outright.

This ownership right will be extended after 12 months to its other representative offices in Beijing, Dalian, Fuzhou, Guangzhou, Nanjing, Ningbo, Qingdao, Shenzhen, Tianjin and Xiamen. Class A status was previously reserved for Chinese companies.

Conscious of the vast potential of the Chinese market, local General Manager, Yves Larquemin welcomes this latest development: 'Our target is to become one of the leading logistics players on the Chinese market in the next ten years.'
