Mrs. Sonia Sami director of the textile and fashion department at DHL Danzas Air & Ocean Egypt ended her third visit to Israel last week as guest of FC Flying Cargo, local DHL Danzas representative.
The visit was focused on the Qualifying Industrial Zone (QIZ) agreement recently signed between the USA, Israel & Egypt On 14 December 2004. The Egyptian and Israeli Ministers of Industry and the US Trade Representative signed an agreement to create eight "Qualified Industrial Zones" (QIZs) in Egypt.
The agreement permits goods made in Egypt but with a specified minimum Israeli content to enter the US duty free. Because there is no free trade agreement between Egypt and the US, Egyptian exports to the US are currently subject to duties and other restrictions.
The QIZ agreement will make it possible to expand industrial exports and create thousands of jobs, two vital needs of the Egyptian economy. The QIZs will be located in the Greater Cairo area, in Alexandria and in Port Said on the Suez Canal. In order for goods to have duty-free access to US markets, they will have to contain a minimum 11.7% Israeli share in the value added for the factory concerned, measured on a quarterly basis.
Mrs. Sonia has met with Isareli industrialists who deals with Egyptian manufacturers. The visit was made possible after
DHL Danzas Air & Ocean Egypt set up a branch office on the Egyptian side of the Nitzana border crossing.
DHL Danzas Air & Ocean Egypt is the first Egyptian international freight forwarder to open an office to cater for the growing cargo movement between Israel and Egypt. It allows DHL Danzas to offer a full door to door service under Danzas' global network without needing outsourced services along the suply chain.
The branch office operates in all terminal activity hours and supplies all Export and Import support.

Mrs. Sonia Sami sees the increase of bilateral trade between the two countries and noted that DHL Danzas Air& Ocean Egypt could offer a one stop shop service to the Israeli business community with full control along the supply chain.
