A.P. Moller – Maersk Group enhances its presence in Israel

Following the recent board of directors meeting in Copenhagen, Head quarters of A.P. Moller – Maersk Group, it was decided to change the corporate structure of its Tel-Aviv based Israel subsidiary, Mercury Shipping Company Ltd.
 
In appreciation of the local market position achieved over the last six years and its strategic intent for the future, A.P. Moller – Maersk Group has decided to acquire the minority shareholding held by Mr. Edni Simkin, Vice Chairman, since the foundation of the local agency in 1998.
 
Mr. Simkin will be leaving the company to pursue other interests.
 
In a luncheon held in Copenhagen by Mr. Tommy Thomsen, partner of A.P. Moller – Maersk Group following the board, Mr. Thomsen said: “Edni’s contribution to the set up of the company in Israel was a key factor to its outstanding success”.
 
With a view to strengthen its market position the A.P. Moller – Group has decided that it will rename the wholly owned local agnecy companies as – MAERSK ISREL Ltd.  Mercury Logistics will also be renamed as Maersk Logistics Israel Ltd.
 
Mr. Simkin said “I would like to express my appreciation for the opportunity that I have had over the last six and a half years to work very closely with the leading global shipping company. Never before in my ling experience in the maritime industry, have I seen such professionalism and dedication. While I will not be directly related to the operation in Israel, I will not forget the friendships and experiences that were part of an exciting and challenging period”.

The new names are a much appreciated recognition of our achievement.
