M/V Ocean Monarch with 200 British tourists on board was the first cruise ship to call at the port of Ashdod in two years. The vessel arrived on November 8 and was received by tourist ministry officials and port officials.
Ocean Monarch is operated by "Master Sun Holidays" which specializes in short winter and summer holidays around the Mediterranean sea.
Mr. Shaul Rotem, director general of the port said after the reception that the port put on its priority list the bringing of more cruise ships to the port which has outstanding facilities to receive passenger ships and holidaymakers.
