The first China Shipping TEU 4250 capacity containership "Xin Yang Shan" docked last week for the first time at the port of Ashdod.
According to statement released by China Shipping port agent, messers Intermaritime, a China Shipping vessel will dock each week at Ashdod port which had been designated by the company as one of the ports of call on the AMAX transoceanic route.
Mrs. Iris Stark, Ashdod Port chairperson said that the cooperation between the port and China Shipping would make Ashdod Port part of a transoceanic route between the Far East and the US. She added that the port would serve the eastern basin of the Mediterranean Sea.
