Ashdod port company published last week its 2009 statistics showing China as its largest source of container handling activities.

Turkey was the second largest source of containers imported with TEU 45,510 (638,000 m/t). Export to Turkey was TEU 6,412.
Italy was third with TEU 44,520 imported and TEU 19,071 exported.
Belgium was forth with TEU 44,167 imported and TEU 17,325 exported. Germany was fifth with TEU 23,607 imported and TEU 11,408 imported and Egypt was in the sixth place with TEU 19,822 imported and TEU 19,791 exported.
Vietnam ranked seventh with TEU 18,799 imported. No export was registered in Ashdod to Vietnam.
Spain was ranked eighth with TEU 14,790 imported and TEU 8,807 exported. Holland was ranked ninth with TEU 13,530 imported and TEU 6,487 exported. The USA was ranked tenth with TEU 12,879 imported and TEU 1,660 exported via Ashdod port.
