Mr. Nahum Ganzarsky, President if the Israeli Chamber of Shipping addressed last week the ministers of Transport and Finance requesting their approval to grant work permits to port workers in Haifa.
In his letter to the ministers Ganzarsky added that the Chamber recommended and would back any request put forward by the port of Haifa management in this respect.
Ganzarsky also noted that the Chamber respected the port of Ashdod decision not to allow work on the Jewish Sabbath. "We know very well the position taken on this issue by Mrs. Iris Shtark, the chair person of the port of Ashdod management and we know very well that we would not be able to persuade her to change her mind" he added.
