China Shipping's AMAX (Asia -Mediterranean-America) service, will offer, through its Israeli subsidiary China Shipping (Israel) ltd, beginning December, a direct service from Israel to Los Angeles on US West Coast.
The first containership to call at Los Angeles will be Xin Chong Qing, voyage w0074 which will sale from Ashdod on December 7th and from Haifa on December 8th. The vessel will call at Los Angeles on January 11th 2006.
China Shipping's decision to call at Ashdod port in addition to it's regular Haifa call has considerable importance to the Israeli business community. It is the first time ever that Ashdod port is directly linked by regular service to Halifax, New York, Norfolk , Savanna, Miami and Los Angeles.
AMAX is a regular weekly round the world service from China and Far East ports to Haifa and Ashdod. The service deploys 9 – 10 containerships with a capacity of over TEU 4,000 each.
