Haifa port company reported last week that during January 2010 the port handled TEU93,700, an increase of 10% compared to January 2009.

The announcement made by the port also noted that following a strategic decision which was taken by the port management and labor leaders in December 2009, the port has successfully increased productivity and improved service to the Israeli trading community.

The port also noted that within the framework of the strategic agreement, the annual average container movements at the port should be increased. The regular average container movements rate was 23.7 containers per hour and this figure should be increased to 25 movements per hour per gantry crane. During January productivity was up to 24.61 container movements per hour per gantry carne.
