Port of Haifa workers have decided to set up a cooperative that may buy 15% of the Haifa Port Co. if it goes public in 2010, as planned. The port has about 950 employees.
The ports reform calls for the privatization of Haifa Port and Ashdod Port Company Ltd. with an issue of 15% of their shares on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange (TASE) in 2010, followed by the sale of up to 49% of the port companies in February 2011.
