German based shipping group; Hamburg Sd, announced last week separation from Zim Integrated Shipping Services to go at it alone in operating a North Europe-Israel service.
While the company confirmed that the move would take place in October this year,it noted that further details of the service were still under consideration and will be announced when they are finalized.
A statement issued by the group noted that "Detailed information on the enhanced service concept which will feature improved connectivity to Hamburg Sd's Global Liner Network will be presented as soon as the corresponding analysis has been finalised”.
Yoram Hofman, director general of A.M.A Associated Maritime Agencies, Hamburg Sd's local ship agency, expressed his satisfaction from the move, noting that the new independent service will provide highly reliable weekly shipping service between North European ports and East Med ports.
