The Conference will be held by the Israeli Port Company May 21-24
The Israel Ports Company will be hosting the International Association of Ports and Harbors' 2012 Mid-Term Conference and Board Meeting in Jerusalem, during May 21-24.
The International Association of Ports and Harbors (IAPH) is a global alliance of over 230 ports in 90 countries, which together handle well over 60% of the world's sea-borne trade and nearly 80% of the world container traffic.
The Organizing Committee announced that the keynote address on May 23rd will be given by Professor Stanley Fisher, Governor of the Bank of Israel. Last year, Professor Fisher was named the World's Top Central Banker.
Other key speakers will be Israeli Minister Of Transport Yisrael Katz, CEO of Israel Ports Company Shlomo Breiman, President of IAPH Dr. Geraldine Knatz, Executive Director, Port of Los Angeles Susumu Naruse and Chairman, European Seaports Organization Armando Duarte (Santa Marta Port, Columbia).
The first day of the conference will feature meetings of the ten professional committees of the IAPH, covering the following disciplines: Safety, Security, Environment, Planning and Design, Operations and Logistics, Trade Facilitation, Training, Legal and Long Term Planning.
The second and third days will feature presentations on global trade trends, their impact on the shipping and port infrastructure requirements and the funding of such development projects.
