The $40 million tender is one of the largest design tenders in Israel, and will include the design of breakwaters, piers, dredging, land reclamation, and port development

Israel Ports Development & Assets Company Ltd. (IPC) the responsible body for the development of Israel's three commercial seaports in Haifa, Ashdod and Eilat, published late last week an international tender for the design of new piers to be built at either Ashdod Port or Haifa Port.

In a statement issued by the IPC it noted that the $40 million tender is one of the largest design tenders in Israel, and will include the design of breakwaters, piers, dredging, land reclamation, and port development.

The tender is the initial part for the next stage of the $800 million ports development plan, which includes the construction of new piers at either of the two Mediterranean port.
If works go well construction of the new piers is due to be completed by 2015.

IPC also noted that several international firms had bought the tender documents and are due to submit expense bids during this September.
