Mediterranean Shipping, Zim and Hamburg Sd has increased THC due to the changes in  calculation for import and export tariffs this month

Ocean freight costs to and from Israel ports are rising significantly due to increased port tariffs. The state-run Israel Ports Company (IPC) changed this month the calculation for import and export tariffs to one based on the weight of the cargo rather than value, driving up costs for ocean carriers.

As a result ocean carriers have begun implementing heavy terminal handling charges - THC, for import and export containers.

Mediterranean Shipping Co. has increased its THC to US $140 per 20-foot container and US $220 per 40-foot container.

Israeli line Zim Integrated Shipping Services Ltd. has increased its THC to US $155 per 20-foot container and US $235 per 40-foot container.

Hamburg Sd has increased its THC to US $180 per 20-foot container and US $240 per 40-footer.In August, Israel THCs were about US $50 per 20-foot container and US $85 per 40-foot container.
