Tiran Shipping Agencies 1997 Limited, a well established marine agent based in Haifa has been nominated as general port agent for the Turkish RORO operator, Akdeniz RoRo Ltd. which is about to begin a new Roll-on/roll-off (RORO or ro-ro) service from Burgas (Bulgaria) via Mersin (Turkey) to Israel.
The service will be composed of two vessels, one will run between Burgas and Mersin on 10 days frequency and the second leg, a Ropax (Ro-Pax vessels are designed for transport of both freight (wheeled cargo) and passengers.) vessel between Mersin and Haifa every 5 days.
The statement noted that U.N. Ro-Ro Isletmeleri A.S. which owns and operates freight roll-on/roll-off (Ro-Ro) fleet and vessels, will carry cargo from Treiste and west Europe to Mersin, where cargo will be trans-shipped to Haifa. U.N. Ro-Ro which is represented by Tiran Shipping Agencies, provides sea transportation services through a fleet of semi-trailers, complete units, and long vehicles for Turkish companies in the Mediterranean region and internationally.
Sailing / transit time from Treiste to Haifa is 6 days. Akdeniz RoRo Ltd. operates 11 RORO vessels serving Black Sea ports mainly between Samsun – Novorossiysk and between Zonguldak Eregli – Illychevsk (Ukraine). The company operates a fleet of reefer trailers which will be offered to Israeli and Jordanian fresh produce growers for export to Russia as well as Europe.
