ZIM Integrated Shipping Services Ltd, announced the expansion of its refrigerated container fleet in order to accommodate the rising demand for its ZIMonitor service.
Ocean carrier ZIM plans to deploy an order of approximately 1,900 new environmentally friendly 40-foot high-cube refrigerated containers in 2016, which were specifically designed to accommodate the ZIMonitor service.
ZIMonitor which was launched in early 2015, is designed to comply with the Good Distribution Practice guidelines, which are applicable to the pharmaceutical industry, and to provide ongoing data flow, alerts and automatic reports, along with a 24/7 dedicated and professional response team along the cargo route to promptly respond and prevent damages.
ZIMonitor allows customers to track, monitor and remotely control sensitive cargo stowed in reefers. Customers can opt to receive alerts regarding their shipment via text message or email, closely monitor their cargo’s status and intervene to prevent damages through ZIM’s 24/7 dedicated global response team.
The ZIMonitor service is designed to serve a wide variety of valuable or sensitive cargo sectors including pharmaceuticals, medical lab equipment, aviation products, perishable foods, wines and other alcoholic beverages, agricultural products, electronics, hazardous goods, artwork and antiques.
