MSC Israel: larger capacity vessels will improve reefer availability to Israeli exporters

MCS Israel noted that the fix weekly call would allow not only shorter transit time but would also guarantee the arrival of the fresh produce at the beginning of the week

Following a highly successful year serving the Israeli agricultural exports, MSC Israel informed that in order to further increase its share in agri-produce exports, it will alter its ship's schedule to a fix weekly call.

In a statement issued last week MCS Israel noted that the fix weekly call would allow not only shorter transit time but would also guarantee the arrival of the fresh produce at the beginning of the week. During the current season the company deployed two TEU 1,100 vessels MSC Giulia and MSC Michele, each has TEU 150 reefer plugging capacity.

As from next season the company decided to replace the two ships and deploy two larger container ships MSC Caitlin and MSC Adriana, each with TEU 1,619 capacity and 300 reefer plugging capacity.

Mr. Edny Simkin, director general of MSC Israel said that the increasing number of reefer containers entering the trade requires special planning to enable the company satisfy the growing demand for controled temperature transportation to the Adriatic as well as to North Europe.

Simkin added that MSC was also about to improve its Far East Israel service. The company decided that the port of Gioia Tauro will be the central transhipment port for cargo destined to Israel.

The two vessels MSC Giulia and MSC Michele will be deployed as feeder vessels between Gioia Tauro and Israel enabling the company to shorter total transit time and offer increased container capacity.
