Following the merger of Maersk Sealand and PONL, Maersk Logistics, a daughter company of the global Maersk group, inaugurated a new weekly LCL service from Haifa to New York.
The new 17 days transit time service was made possible once Maersk took control over PONL services from Haifa to NY. The company's first groupage container was shipped from Haifa on board the vessel "Endurance" on September 25th.
In a statement issued by Maersk Logistics the company said that the new high quality LCL service could only be effective with the close co-operation of messers DSL STAR EXPRES a highly professional and well established US NVOCC. The latter had been taken over by the Maersk group in 2001.
The new service is offered to local shippers as well as freight forwarders.
