Maersk upgraded Euromed service, will call Haifa

Maersk Line has announced a number of changes to its Euromed service (43G) serving Northern Europe to the Eastern Mediterranean, which will take effect on 20 July, 2009.
 
The revised rotation, to commence from vessel Maersk Bintan 741/0919, will be Felixstowe-Rotterdam-Bremerhaven-Alexandria-Port Said-Haifa-Ashdod-Gioia Tauro to Felixstowe.
 
The changes to the current Euromed rotation are: Gioia Tauro has been removed from the southbound rotation and Haifa port added. The port of Gioia Tauro has been added to the northbound rotation.
 
According to Steve Felder, Managing Director of Maersk Israel, Ltd., the changes to the rotation have been made to further improve the shipping group's northern Europe to Israel product by increasing capacity, reducing transit times and expanding the direct port coverage.
 
The upgraded Euromed is a product that can serve the Israel-Scandinavian trade better, providing Israeli exporters with a direct route between Israeli ports and Northern Europe.
 
Maersk’s new Euromed route offers excellent onward connections to a variety of Scandinavian destinations.
 
He added that the upgraded Euromed service is the only service that gives the Israeli market a direct Rotterdam call, which is particularly relevant for the reefer market.
