In highly complex logistic operation a 41 ton earthmoving equipment was moved by Marita Shipping from Israel via Mariupol in the Ukraine to Ulan Bator in Mongolia.

The heavy piece of equipment was loaded in Ashdod on board one of Mrita's conventional liner vessels serving Mariupol. From the port of Mariupol the heavy unit was moved by train, 7,000 km away, to Ulan Bator.

Mr.Michael Hershkovitz co-director of the company noted that such a complex logistic operation requires highly synchronized operations in which great many governmental as well private logistic units participated.

Hershkovitz added that in this case the company coordinated the customs and police agencies as well as the highway and railway authorities in Russia the Ukraine and Mongolia. However, the most complex operation was the actual loading of the unit upon railcars and securing the cargo for its relatively long distance.

Hershkovitz emphasized that the combined experience gained by his company and its CIS partners enables Marita shipping to successfully operate highly diversified services to and from the CIS countries. He added that in 2004 the company successfully shipped along a 5,000 km two earthmoving equipment, 60 tons each, from Israel to Siberia.

Marita shipping operates a conventional liner service (3,000 – 5,000 dwt ships ) for the export and import of agriculture produce, pipes, steel, timber and containers between Israeli ports and Black sea ports.
