Nearly five years after faulty Remedia baby formula caused the deaths of three babies and left 20 others severely debilitated, the State Prosecutor's Office filed last week indictments against several Health Ministry officials. The indictments included multiple counts of professional negligence and criminal negligence.

The indictments, which were filed with the Rishon Lezion Magistrates' Court, named Former Remedia owner Moshe Miller, CEO Gideon Landsberger and food technologist Frederic Black; as well as the Health Ministry's Dr. Nitzan-Klosky, former director-general ofthe National Food Service, and several Health Ministry inspectors, who were supposed to have the imported baby formula tested.

Following the announcement made by the State Prosecutor's Office, reports came through of slow down in food import clearance at the main maritime gateways where Health Ministry inspectors apply by the book checking and cross checking of food shipments.
