Statistical data published by the port directorate at the Ministry of Transport show that during Q2 of 2010, Israeli ports handled TEU600,000 compared to TEU 514,000, in the corresponding period of 2009, representing an increase of 16.7%.
Port of Haifa handled during April – June TEU 334,000 (TEU 159,000 unloaded and TEU 174,000 loaded). Port of Ashdod handled in the same period TEU 266,000 (TEU 131,000 unloaded and TEU 135,000 loaded).
During the first six months, Israeli ports handled TEU 1.157 million, representing an increase of 16.8% compared to the corresponding period of 2009, during which the ports handled TEU 990,000. (Haifa handled TEU 631,000 and Ashdod TEU 526,000).
In tonnage terms, during the first six months Israeli ports handled 20.9 million tons, representing an increase of 21.5% compared to the parallel, (17.21 million tons).
