The Israel Ports Company hosted last week the International Association of Ports and Harbors' 2012 Mid-Term Conference and Board Meeting in Jerusalem.
The International Association of Ports and Harbors (IAPH) is a global alliance of over 230 ports in 90 countries, which together handle well over 60% of the world's sea-borne trade and nearly 80% of the world container traffic.
The keynote address was given by Professor Stanley Fisher, Governor of the Bank of Israel. Other key speakers were Israeli Minister Of Transport Yisrael Katz, CEO of Israel Ports Company Shlomo Breiman, President of IAPH Dr. Geraldine Knatz, Executive Director, Port of Los Angeles, European Seaports Organization (ESPO) chairman Victor Schoemakers, Port of Rotterdam; American Association of Port Authorities (AAPA) chairman Armando Duarte, Santa Marta Port, Colombia; and Israel Ports Company chairman Yechiel Leiter.
During the four days conference guided tours were held to the Port of Ashdod,its modern gate and visitor's center, the old renovated Jaffa Port district as well as sightseeing in Jerusalem.
