YANG MING's Post Panamax vessel "YM MATURITY", a TEU 6,572 capacity containership, built by Hanjin Heavy Industries, Korea docked last week in Israel instead of its usual berth in the region, the Egyptian city of Port Said, because of the unrest and uncertainty in Egypt.

The 84,300 DWT(Summer) Liberian flag vessel, built 2010, is 300m long and has 40m beam, arrived from the French FOS SUR MER port and departed to Singapore.

Haifa port personnel say that the new Carmel terminal can even accommodate container ships larger than the YM Maturity and expressed hope that dredging work to deepen the entrance of the port to 15.75 m deep will begin soon to enable the terminal receive even larger container vessels.
