The port reached a level of TEU 719,883, an increase of 12% compared to 2011
Container volume at the Port of Haifa in the first half of 2012 reached the level of TEU 719,883 , an increase of nearly 12 percent compared to the corresponding period last year.
In a press release issued by the port, it noted that during the same period in 2011, it registered a two digits increase in all container segments. The number of local containers ( import and export) increased by 10% compared to the corresponding period last year.
Data released by the Shipping and Ports Authority ( S&PA) the port's market share increase by 4%.
In the transshipment sector, the port registered an increase of 18% during the first six months, compared to the corresponding period last year. In total the port handled during the first half 12,196 thousand tons, an increase of 7% compared to the corresponding period last year.
