Ashdod port establish friendly port relationship with China's Wuhan port

Gideon Siterman, chairman of the port of Ashdod board of directors, signed last week an agreement to establish friendly port relationship with China's river-city Wuhan portin Central China.

Port of Wuhan belongs to Wuhan Port Group Co Ltd. Located where the Yangtze and Han rivers intersect, Wuhan is the most populous city in Central China with a population of just under 10 million citizens in its urban area.

Under the agreement, Wuhan Port and Ashdod Port will launch cooperation in such areas as construction and operation of port facilities, information sharing on construction of intermodal transport systems, and construction of green ports, as well as exchanging information about shipping services.

Siterman noted the importance of establishing close ties with Wuhan City port and in particular the exchange of information on security, technology and infrastructure.

Wuhan CityMayor, Tang Liangzhi who was present at the signing ceremony noted that Wuhan government wants to strengthen the city's credentials as the major transport hub on the middle reaches of the Yangtze river.
