Qatar proposed to finance the building of a commercial port in the Gaza Strip under international supervision if possible as a temporarily solution to alleviate the economy of Gaza.
Qatari Foreign Minister Khaled Al-Attiyah made the proposal during the meeting of Arab foreign ministers that was held in Cairo on Monday.
According to the Qatari Foreign Minister the building of a commercial port in Gaza will benefit both the Israelis as well as the Palestinians.
Qatar has been a main player in the Palestinian issue, providing political, material, humanitarian and charitable support to Hamas. The proposal to build a commercial port has not gained any support from other Arab countries.
