The Indian shipping firm will deploy two container ships of about 2,500 TEU and 2,700 TEU capacity. Transit time to Eilat Port will be 12 days
Shipping Corporation of India (SCI), represented in Israel by Tiran Shipping Agencies 1997 Ltd, decided to deploy a new container service to Israel.
SCI, the only Indian shipping firm that offers liner services, will deploy two container ships of about 2,500 TEU and 2,700 TEU capacity. The service will run every 12 days and its port rotation will call at Nhava Sheva and Mundra on its way to Eilat. Transit time will be 12 days.
India's east coast ports Tuticorin, Chennai, Calcutta and the port of Colombo, Sri Lanka, are to be connected to the new service through trans-shipment at the port of Nhava Sheva.
The first sailing is scheduled for February 14th.
In a press release issued by Tiran Shipping Agencies the company noted that the new service is the only direct service between Israel and India which will guarantee reliable service. The service will also provide solutions for cargoes which require direct sailings as well as project cargoes.
The company also noted that SCI plans to deploy large capacity vessels hence the weight and the number of the containers will not be an issue to the Israeli shipping community.
Tiran Shipping Agencies also noted that the service will arrange, under the bill of lading terms agreed upon with the importers, for the imported cargo to be transported from Eilat to container yards at Ashdod or Haifa.
Tiran Shipping also acts as general agents for APL, TURKON, CSAV, Libra and Trasatlantica offering a global world wide container service to/from Israel, world wide cargo tracking, creative and competitive shipping solutions.
