Turkon shipping, a Turkish company represented in Israel by Gold Line, is offering a faster sailing service, direct from Alexandria to Haifa.
A statement issued last week by Gold Line said that the new service runs in less than 24 hours and is the only service that provides such a short transit time.
Mr. Benny Salomon, Gold Line's commercial director, noted that the increase in trade between Israel and Egypt due to the QIZ agreement brought an increase demand for shipping services in general and to the Alexandria port in particular.
Turkon which recently celebrated the 8th anniversary serving Israel, operates three container vessels along the route.
