US Ambassador to Israel H.E. Richard H. Jones visited last week the port of Ashdod

The visit was the first since the port reform took place in early 2005.
The Ambassador visited the new Eitan container terminal and was given a presentation about the port's potential, its highly sophisticated security system and its hinterland.

Ashdod port chair Mrs. Iris Shtark who escorted the Ambassador invited the US navy 6th fleet to visit the port.

In a statement issued after the visit, it was made known that parties explored ways to create closer ties between the port and US steamship companies.
