Starting in April, ZIM’s BSU Line will call at the port of Thessaloniki, improving transit time and integration with ZIM’s global network

ZIM announce that starting in April 2011 its Black Sea-Ukraine Service (BSU) will add the port of Thessaloniki to its route, enabling a direct connection and improved transit times to both regional ports and to ZIM’s global network via its hub in Haifa.

The service's new route will be as follows:

Ashdod - Haifa - Limassol - Odessa- Illychevsk - Varna - Kumport – Izmit - Thessaloniki - Izmir - Piraeus - Ashdod

The enhanced service will connect Thessaloniki via ZIM's network to all major trade routes to and from Asia (China, SE Asia and India), the U.S.A., Europe and Africa as well as other destinations, creating significant savings in transit time.

The new call also introduces shorter transit times between Thessaloniki and regional ports in the Ukraine, Bulgaria, Turkey, Israel and Cyprus.

Zim noted that, the new route is one of many improvements ZIM is making as part of its ongoing campaign to create flexible responses to a dynamic market.
