Starting early August Da Chan Bay Terminal One facility will be added to its Asia/ US East Coast/ Caribbean trade lane (ZCS) and Asia-East Med/ Black sea (EMX) services
Israeli ocean carrier, Zim Integrated Shipping Services Ltd. is adding, starting early August, Shenzhen Port's Da Chan Bay Terminal One (DCBT1) facility to its Asia/ US East Coast/ Caribbean trade lane (ZCS) and Asia-East Med/ Black sea (EMX) services.
Both fixed day, weekly services will drop Shenzhen's other terminal Shekou for EMX and Shekou and Yantian for ZCS.
According to reports the first ZCS call will be ZIM Haifa on Aug. 3. The first EMX inbound call will be ZIM Dalian on Aug. 20; the first EMX outbound call will be Pearl River on Aug. 23.
Da Chan Bay Terminal One is located in the Western Shenzhen Port area of South China. It is a new international container terminal serving the Pan-Pearl River Delta cargo catchment areas.
Da Chan Bay Terminal One covers an area of 112 hectares with five berths along its quayside of 1,830 meters and 600 meters wide.
Its quay depth, currently at 15.5 metres, will eventually be dredged to 18 metres, allowing Da Chan Bay to accommodate the world's largest existing and planned container vessels.
Terminal one is managed by Modern Terminals, which has 36 years of container terminal operations experience in Hong Kong.
The terminal’s CEO Andrew Milliken said following Zim's announcement that “ZIM services will open up two new trade lanes for Da Chan Bay Terminal One and we look forward to providing ZIM and their customers a great experience at our world-class facilities”.
