Foreign press reports indicate that Zim Integrated Shipping Services Ltd. announced last week that a decision had been made to add the port of Hong Kong to its recently inaugurated Asia/North Europe East-West Express Service (EWX).

According to the press reports the fully Cellular Container vessel, TEU 4,250 "Zim Genova" is scheduled to make the maiden call at Hong Kong port on the EWX service when it departs the Far East port on April 19.

The EWX service was launched in mid-January 2008 using four container ships transferred from its Far East/U.S. East Coast, Asia USA Express (AUX) that was operated jointly with Evergreen Line, and two container vessels from its Asia Med Pacific (AMP) service.
The newly inaugurated service deploys seven ships of TEU 4,250 and will have a revised port rotation of Shanghai, Xiamen, Hong Kong, Shekou, Port Kelang, Bremerhaven, Tilbury, Antwerp, Le Havre and back to Shanghai.

Zim said within the framework of the new service it offers a total of seven weekly Asia/Europe services.
