ISRAELI container shipping line Zim Integrated Shipping Services is to temporarily suspend its fixed-day weekly Asia-Gulf Express (AGX) service, providing direct connections from Asia to Tampa, Mobile and Houston beginning at the end of March. The suspension of its Asia - Gulf Express AGX service is part of Zim's winter programme.

Instead the company will operate feeder line which will operate to and from the US Gulf ports of Tampa, Mobile and Houston using the Kingston, Jamaica hub with an expectation to resume the original transpacific Gulf service when the market recovers. The Israeli carrier will, however, continue to serve the trade through a feeder link at Kingston, Jamaica, deploying two 3,000-TEU vessels.

The feeder service will call Tampa, Mobile and Houston that are currently covered by the AGX schedule.

In addition, the existing Zim Container Service (ZCS) will now add a call at Pusan, offering a revised rotation of Shekou, Hong Kong, Ningbo, Shanghai, Pusan, Balboa, Kingston, Savannah, New York and Halifax.

The current AGX rotation is Qingdao, Shanghai, Pusan, Osaka, Yokohama, Panama, Cristobal, Kingston, Mobile, Tampa, Houston, Kingston, Panama, and back to Qingdao.
