Zim’s AEX2 service to resume operation

The service, operated jointly with Evergreen and CSCL, was halted due to a "winter plan"

Zim Integrated Shipping Services, Ltd. announced renewal of operations for its Asia-Europe Express Service (AEX2), connecting major ports in Asia and North Europe.

The service is to be re-instated in May 2012.

In view of increasing demand and recovering freight rates in the trade, ZIM, along with its partners on this line, Evergreen and CSCL, reached a joint decision to resume AEX2 operations as originally planned. The service was suspended as part of a “winter plan” agreed upon by partners.

The line will deploy nine ships of 8,000-TEU to 8,500-TEUs capacity. ZIM will supply 3 vessels in the service.

AEX2 offers one of the best transit times in the Asia-Europe trade lines, reliable schedule and excellent service.

Rafi Ben-Ari, ZIM VP Shipping: “Re-instating AEX2, as planned, is an indication of positive developments in the market”.
