Zim Integrated Shipping Services Ltd. announced a general rate increase (GRI) effective August 1st, 2011 in the Asia-South America East Coast trade- US$600 per 20’ container and US$1200 per 40’container
 
 
Zim Integrated Shipping Services Ltd. announced last week a general rate increase (GRI) effective August 1st, 2011 in the Asia-South America East Coast trade.
 
The GRI will be as follows:
US$600 per 20’ container (all types) and US$1200 per 40’container (all container types including Hi-Cube).
 
In a press release Zim said that "The rate increase is necessary in view of market conditions and current unsustainable rate levels, and in order to continue to operate our services with the current high levels of reliability and service to customers."
 
Zim Integrated Shipping Services Ltd. is part of a five container carrier consortium operating a service between the Far East and the East Coast of South America. Zim provides three container vessels on the ASE service. The service is jointly operated by Hanjin Shipping, Wan Hai, Hapag-Lloyd and Compania Chilena de Navegacion Interoceanica S.A. (CCNI).
